INDEPENDENT CERTIFIER

The role of the independent certifier is to provide specialist advice and checking of the compliance of a construction project against employer’s requirements, detailed design and statutory construction standards.

Our appointments as Independent Certifier includes working on behalf of the HCA where they provide grant funding for a project. This has meant checking against the various compliance requirements including the Design and Quality Standards (DQS). We are able to use input from our HCA and GLA Auditor to ensure that a project is fully compliant and would pass the strenuous process of a scheme audit.

We also work for private clients including housebuilders.

The role we have often undertaken is similar to that of Monitoring Surveyor in that we act as a set of professional eyes casting opinion on the progress and management of a scheme. In what is effectively an audit role we are conscious that ‘pebble throwing’ is not helpful so we always aim to bring the same pragmatic and helpful approach we provide on all of our services. Our clients have found that we can be very useful because of our background knowledge and in the majority of appointments we make the process easier for them at the closing stages.

In order to ensure that a Client avoids any potential cause of non-compliance with the key documentation we identify the milestones and key stages of a project and ensure that they are signed off at the appropriate stage of construction.

Our reporting process is designed to be easy to read quickly, providing the salient information at a glance. Where a matter requires more detail to be provided we ensure this is delivered via the most effective means of communicating it and in the most helpful way to ensure that it is addressed properly.
